A top rated non profit by Guidestar and Great Non Profits, Be the Star You Are!® is an all volunteer 501c3 charity dedicated to empowering women, families, and youth through improved literacy and increased positive media messages. Be the Star You Are!® coaches local teens to be effective communicators and publishes writers through a collaboration with Lamorinda Weekly. The charity boasts over 2000 reviews by our Star Teen Book Review Team, is active in local events, hosts numerous literacy outreach programs, and ships books to over 109 beneficiaries in need of hope around the USA. An ongoing critical outreach program is Operation Disaster Relief to help survivors of USA disasters with necessary resources.  BTSYA produces two international radio shows, StarStyle®-Be the Star You Are!®, an upbeat lifestyle show featuring authors, and experts as well as a teen program, Express Yourself!™ with youth reporters and hosts ages 12-24. Founded in 1999 by actor and  NY Times best selling author, Cynthia Brian, BTSYA is funded 100% by individual donations. All outreach programs offer community service credits to volunteers. Promoting Participation in the Moraga Community

A grassroots network of Moraga citizens who want accurate, objective information about current Moraga issues and events.  A vital piece of this network is The MCN Link, a bi-monthly e-mail bulletin that announces:

  • Town Council agenda items of particular interest to the general public
  • Cultural events at Saint Mary’s College i.e art shows, theatre, lectures, sports
  • Special events at our local theatre in Rheem
  • Service organization events to which the public is invited
