A top rated non profit by Guidestar and Great Non Profits, Be the Star You Are!® is an all volunteer 501c3 charity dedicated to empowering women, families, and youth through improved literacy and increased positive media messages. Be the Star You Are!® coaches local teens to be effective communicators and publishes writers through a collaboration with Lamorinda Weekly. The charity boasts over 2000 reviews by our Star Teen Book Review Team, is active in local events, hosts numerous literacy outreach programs, and ships books to over 109 beneficiaries in need of hope around the USA. An ongoing critical outreach program is Operation Disaster Relief to help survivors of USA disasters with necessary resources.  BTSYA produces two international radio shows, StarStyle®-Be the Star You Are!®, an upbeat lifestyle show featuring authors, and experts as well as a teen program, Express Yourself!™ with youth reporters and hosts ages 12-24. Founded in 1999 by actor and  NY Times best selling author, Cynthia Brian, BTSYA is funded 100% by individual donations. All outreach programs offer community service credits to volunteers. The New Rheem Theatre

The New Rheem Theatre has been chosen as the #1, out of 27,  Indie Cinemas in the Bay Area two years in a row.  One of the reasons is the Classic Film Hall of Fame and Museum  displays film memorabilia from many decades of film.  The Hall of Fame is drawing folks from all over the area and beyond to see the Hollywood treasures.  

The Rheem Theatre is dedicated to enhancing the cultural environment of Moraga and the Lamorinda area by championing blockbuster movies, independent films and other media arts along with one of a kind special events.  Check out the Classic Film Hall of Fame in the lobby and hallways with memorabilia from actors like Mikey Rooney and Boris Karloff along with many more. Every Tuesday is Super Tuesday when Tickets are only $7.00 for all age groups.  IMPORTANT There are excellent quality headphones for hearing impaired.  Folks with extensive hearing difficulties have tried them, and say they work very well. They are available at the concession stand.

The Saklan School

Celebrating 60 years in 2014!  The Saklan School is a Pre-K through 8th grade independent school.  Saklan students are challenged to think creatively, act compassionately, and live courageously.  Since 1954 we have provided a well-rounded education with small class sizes.  Foreign Language, Music, Science, Physical Education and Art classes are taught at every grade level, Pre-K through 8th.
