Hacienda de las Flores

An Authentic Spanish style mansion, the Hacienda de las Flores sits on land that was once the hunting ground for Miwok Indians. The historic Town-owned structure is painted white with blue trim, and is surrounded by beautifully maintained park grounds. Inside the Hacienda, hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, a fire place and red leather furniture create a warm and inviting setting. Outdoors, a large lawn spreads out behind the building, enhanced by blue spruce trees, weeping willows, palms and flowers. A circular flower bed and fountain in the middle of the patio serve as the focal point for large parties or wedding receptions

From the upper Hacienda lawn, flagstone stairs lead down to the Pavilion, a semi-circular building with huge Corinthian columns overlooking a walled garden with lawn and patio. A set of large wrought-iron gates leads guests into the enclosure, where small seated functions or ceremonies can take place.

Tranquil and secluded, the Hacienda de las Flores offers one of the prettiest garden environments for special events in the East Bay.

Hiking Trails

Moraga is nestled amidst some spectacular ridgelines, and there are many terrific hiking trails. Try the moderate six-mile Rocky Ridge – King Canyon Loop, which starts at the Valle Vista Staging Area on Canyon Rd. This is part of the web of trails maintained by the East Bay Municipal Utility District, and a Trail Use Permit is required. The permit is only $10 for a year and is available online at  http://www.moragaparks.org/TrailsGuide.html. You can also a get a permit at the Hacienda de Las Flores, the Lafayette Reservoir and Watershed Headquarters in Orinda. The Mulholland Ridge is another not-to-be missed hike that will reward you with stunning panoramic views. Pick up the trail at the top of Donald Drive. Birders will want to keep an eye out for white-tailed kites, red-tailed hawks and American kestrels. The Lafayette Reservoir Rim Trail Loop is a rather strenuous hike itself but features easy access trails to the Reservoir Recreation Area for fishing, pedal-boating and other fun activities. Click here for trail maps.
